We’ll see how long it lasts this time. Anyhow, many things have changed, let’s see how this goes shall we?
King Arms has released a video of the Galil SAR. It looks impressive. Pity the tritium night sights are just dummies though. Nonetheless, looks to be a solid AEG.
Interesting announcement from King Arms (take note Classic Army). The Galil SAR (Short Assault Rifle) is an Israeli design based on the AK-47. It’s basically what the M4 is to the M16.
King Arms has thrown in a whole host of features:
- Bolt carrier blow back
- Able to store batteries of up to 12V (means it’s more than capable of handling upgrades)
- Flip-up night sights (no indication of the sights are tritium sights though)
- Official accurate markings (since it’s a licensed product)
- Dummy left side fire selector (this one’s odd. Maybe they couldn’t do a working one?)
- Full steel, aluminium and nylon fiber construction
- 7mm gearbox
And it looks like it won’t end there. King Arms has plans to release the Galil ARM, Galil AR, and even the Galil MAR!
So we had another airsoft session over the last weekend and this time, I brought my Classic Army H&K MP5, KSC Glock 17 and of course, the Tokyo-Marui H&K MP7A1 as back-up.
- I used batteries included in China-made AEGs to power my MP5 and man… do they suck bad. After only about 400 rounds, the 8.4V 1100mAh gave out. Lucky I brought more than one. Sheesh. The MP5 itself though, performed flawlessly. The weight was just nice (even though it was almost all metal) and while the reach could be better,I can’t complain about its stock performance.
- I had just replaced the slide on the Glock 17 with a metal one from G&P and I must say I was quite disappointed. It either didn’t cycle back properly, or the slide didn’t slap forward totally. So in the end, I only played one game with it before retiring it to my gun bag. Looking back though, perhaps there wasn’t enough lube on the new slide which is causing the problems with the blowback. Hopefully that’s it since all that will take to resolve is some additional lube.
- The MP7A1 again performed flawlessly. It even went against 400fps AEGs OK. I was also much more mobile with it. The only gripe is at extreme rangesm even if you hit someone, he might not feel the BB hit as by that time, there’s almost no more energy in the BB to cause a strong enough impact. Still though, it’s growing into my favorite AEG in my arsenal.
Lucky I brought my MP7A1, otherwise I’d be sitting in the safezone sucking my thumb while the others play to their hearts content. Anyway, next game I might bring along my KSC USP .45 along with my Glock just in case either one acts up.
I really should go back to my usual practice of doing gun maintenance after every game.
I also brought along a new piece of gear. It’s from Emdom USA called the 3o2 Pistol Mag Pouch. It’s a nice piece of gear that allows you to either fit in 3 single stack mags or 2 double stack mags. The fit for the double stack mags are very tight before I took out the flap. Which then caused me to wonder if the mags would fall out if I ran or did any vigorous movements. I’m happy to say that on the whole, it worked as advertised. Unfortunately I wasn’t wearing it when in one game, I actually did a barrel roll. Would have loved to see if the mags fell off then though. Not that I like it when my mag falls out heh.
All in all, a nice piece of gear which further reduces the ‘bulkiness’ I sometimes feel when I’m skirmishing. Let’s hope I can put it through more phases the next time I play.
So you’ve decided to customize your gun by adding a custom camouflage. How camouflage works is easy: human eyes are trained to track familiar and solid shapes. Camouflage will break these shapes up, making them harder to see.
There are many types of camouflage concepts and designs but the basic idea is the same: break up the silhouette of the object, and you have effective camouflage.
The following is just one simple way of doing camo. It’s simple because there’s only one color application involved. There are other more complicated methods and patterns but when it’s already effective as it is, why make things difficult for yourself?
Around 2005, when I was still stationed in Singapore, the Crossfire gang used to play at Mezzanine, an abandoned condominium project in Sunter, North Jakarta. We’d pay the security there for a couple of hours worth of skirmishes.
The place is dangerous, since it wasn’t a legit airsoft field. Empty elevator shafts. Real dark corners that lead to nowhere. Construction debris everywhere. But it was fun as heck. Sure there weren’t much cover and the wind effect in the section we played with really wrecked the BB trajectories, the place however, served as Crossfire’s unofficial ‘official’ field for awhile. Crossfire at the time was also pretty big, with some games reaching 40 people (!!).

Classic Army’s at it again. Seems like they are cloning a lot of existing releases from other companies lately (see HK416 abd P90 entries below). This time, it’s their take on the H&K UMP. They will be calling it the UMC. Shots below seem to be of a prototype as there are molding bumps here and there that shouldn’t be and it lacks the fire selector markings.
Since no other details have been provided, the following is strictly my guess. From the looks of the magazine, I think the UMC will largely be based on the G&G UMG. That in itself isn’t bad though, since the UMG by all accounts, is a pretty good AEG. What’s not so cool is how unoriginal Classic Army has become.
I’m also not sure if it’ll be an alternative to the UMG because Classic Army’s latest releases have pretty high price points. That being said, unlike the other releases, this one should be almost all plastic (like the real deal) so hopefully, it won’t be priced too high.
In the meantime though, I’ll just wait and see how this turns out. I have the Double Eagle UMP and while I really like the gun itself for being so pointable and ergonomic, the performance left a lot to be desired.
